Are you a “Super Hero business owner”?

Why Your Indispensability Is Destroying Your Profit Potential  Do you have a fear of outsourcing? It’s not an odd question. You see if you want your business to be super successful, at some point you have to stop trying to do everything yourself. In the early days lots of business owners take the strain. You may be one of them. You make yourself indispensable, allocate all the jobs to you and feel fearful of the costs of offloading some of your non-core work to someone else. You may even feel obliged to be always available to answer your phone – after all you never know who might be on the other end of the line. But there’s a BIG payoff – and one you may not even be fully aware of.

Who will answer your telephone when you go roaming this summer?

Who Will Answer Your Phone When You’re On Holiday This Year? After months of wondering if the summer is ever going to arrive, it’s now here with a vengeance! In fact, the weathermen are saying this is the longest spell of warm weather the UK has had for the last six years. It’s great news for summer holidaying, but perhaps bad news for small business owners who can find it hard to switch off and take a break – especially if you still need to be available to answer your phone.

What can small businesses learn from London 2012?

I don’t know about you but I have been blown away by London 2012 - not just the performances of our athletes but by the whole event. It makes me proud to be British.[caption id="attachment_4128" align="alignleft" width="168"] Meet Sarah[/caption]You just have to tune into R5 and the BBC television coverage and witness the crowds inside and outside the stadia up and down the country to feel the buzz.  So what can we learn? And it’s not all about the athletes.Sarah, our Financial Controller at Verbatim, the phone answering service had a wonderful day watch the rowing at Eton Dorney last week. She was struck by everyone involved from the games ambassadors, the shuttle bus drivers to the meticulous organisation of the event.“Everyone was smiling, friendly and polite and couldn't have been more helpful. The attitude and friendliness was so unexpected, but wow did it make a difference to our overall experience. The rowing wasn’t bad either!"

Managing your phones need not be a Herculean task

Verbatim, the phone answering serviceAre you excited about the Olympics? It is getting ever closer and the anticipation grows as the torch winds its way through the UK, but much like a dark cloud on the day of a barbecue, there may be trouble ahead if you are a business hoping to trade during the event.Naturally we wish our Olympians every success this summer and hope that they are laden down with gold medals and hope that the hundreds of thousands of spectators get to their venues in time to witness our triumph.Verbatim, The Phone Answering ServiceHowever, all the passion comes at a price and without doubt will impact on businesses, not least making it difficult for staff to get to work and clients to access your business if you are near a venue. Perhaps employees have taken time off to watch the Olympics – or even to avoid it?The point is your telephone will be under more pressure than normal for a British summer and we do know that people will hang up an unanswered telephone in less time than it takes Usain Bolt to run 100 metres. And don’t even think of using an answer phone – seven out of ten people do not leave a message and never call back!

When snow stops you reaching the office who will answer your phones?

Snow at New Greenham Park, Newbury, Berkshire

Like it or not when it snows here in the UK it does seem to have a paralysing effect and businesses can struggle to function as workers stay home and the forecast always seems bleak.

Indeed if the Daily Mail is to be believed we are only ever a few minutes away from the worst snow storms since time began! However, here at Verbatim, The Phone Answering Service, we have yet to be troubled by snow – although during that last bad spell we did have someone trek in on skis!

We have always had a can do and get it done attitude and that means we know how to help businesses blighted by a white out.If your calls are diverted to us we can connect them to the relevant member of staff wherever they are stranded courtesy of the British weather.
